Fifth Grade NOVA Graduation

Submitted by becky.manning on

Fifth graders at Maple Ridge Elementary were fortunate to participate in NOVA led by Officer Miller. NOVA is a Utah based program to help students in 5th grade with decision making. It is focused on core values , avoiding harmful substances, and being responsible with the choices they make. Students recently wrote essays about what they learned during NOVA and had their graduation on Nov. 15. We are so thankful for the Mapleton Police Department and Officer Miller!

Local Heroes Visit Kindergarten!

Submitted by becky.manning on

The kindergarten curriculum for this month includes learning about community. Our kindergarteners were able to tour a fire truck and an ambulance, thanks to our local heroes. They were given two assignments for homework. First, to create a safe meeting place outside their home in case of emergency. Second, is to learn their address if they ever are needed to call 911. We timed a fireman to see how fast he could get all his gear on and asked many fun questions. Thanks Mapleton Fire/EMS!
