Retelling The Three Billy Goats Gruff

Submitted by becky.manning on

Recently in Mrs. Cheever's kindergarten students learned about characters, setting, plot, problem and solution. They also worked on retelling the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. The students made little puppets and created their own bridge to retell the story to a friend. It was a fun activity with lots of talking and great accents.

First Graders in Mrs. Williams class were treated to a fun filled week before Fall Break. They learned about bats and spiders and practiced writing informational paragraphs about them. They also celebrated Room on the Broom Day and go to make their own witch craft and spooky witch’s brew to eat. Happy Fall!

A Visit from Mr. Jones

Submitted by becky.manning on

Maple Ridge students were privileged to have Mr. J Lynn Jones visit for our monthly S.T.R.O.N.G. assembly. Mr. Jones is a well-known member of our Nebo School District family and we are thankful to have him in our building when he is able to come. During this assembly, he talked about being a supportive friend. (A big thank you to our wonderful school counselor, Mrs. Brindley, who plans these assemblies for us each month!)

Students of the Month for September

Submitted by becky.manning on

These Maple Ridge students were selected as our Students of the Month for September. They were recognized for showing positive self-esteem and showing many of the Maple Ridge S.T.R.O.N.G qualities (supportive, thankful, resilient, optimistic, nice, generous). We are proud of each of them! (Not pictured: Aubrie Harper, Chloe Stucki, Trevi Gammell, Paceson Sainsbury, Mason Snyder, Hunter Houghton)

Science in Mrs. Steen's 5th Grade

Submitted by becky.manning on

Mrs. Steen's 5th graders observing and testing various white powders.  They were looking for color, texture, smell, as well as how they reacted with water, vinegar, and iodine. Then they compared these observations with a completed table to identify each substance. Cornstarch and flour were the hardest to identify.
