We're over the rainbow for our secretaries! We are celebrating our secretaries this week at Maple Ridge! Mrs. Simmons and Mrs. Gatley are the heart of our school! They do so much for all of us and we truly appreciate how hard they work keeping everything running smoothly at Maple Ridge. They take good care of the teachers, staff, students and parents. We are very blessed to have them!
This past week our awesome Maple Ridge PTA and Maple Ridge parents spoiled all of the teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week last week. They provided breakfast, lunch from MoBettahs, and Dole whips. So many wonderful parents brought in lunches, drinks, and gift cards. It was such a wonderful week and we all felt loved! Thank you to everyone involved. We love our Maple Ridge families and PTA.
Students in Mr. Bates' fourth grade class recently participated in the Sons of Utah Pioneers Essay Contest. The winners were: 1st Place-Aubri Anderson, 2nd Place-Addie Etherington, 3rd Place-Kayla Phillips. Each winner read their essay in front of parents and committee members. They represented Maple Ridge well!
Maple Ridge fourth graders recently used DASH robots to summarize their reading. They had to code each movement that DASH made and record their voices too. It was a super fun way to practice an important reading skill!
Fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Jane Olson, was recognized this week at the Nebo School District board meeting for being Maple Ridge's Teacher of the Year for 2021-22!
"Jane has a thoughtful nature, strong content knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills. She is capable of managing students at multiple levels and can problem solve effectively. Jane is always willing to go the extra mile and looks for ways to integrate technology. She has a sincere love for students."
Maple Ridge second graders had a blast at Farm Field Day this week! They learned so much about farming, agriculture and even got to see a sheep get a haircut!
Our custodian, Mr. Swenson, will be retiring at the end of this school year. Mr. Swenson has done an amazing job keeping our school clean and looking like new! To celebrate him, we had a "Bon Voyage" party, pulled him around the school on a boat and stopped at different "ports" where the grade levels cheered, sang, showed off posters, etc. At the end, we were all treated to a live band, Rock Daddy, out on our playground. A big thank you to Mr. Swenson for all his hard work at Maple Ridge! We will miss you! Also a big thank you to Mr. and Mrs.

First graders in Mrs. Williams' class have been learning about fairy tales and fractured fairy tales. They practiced writing their own fractured fairy tales in groups with cards that gave them a character from an existing fairy tale along with a silly setting and problem. They then had to turn it into a fractured fairy tale story and shared them with their classmates.
