On January 22, 2018, six grade students at Maple Ridge Elementary had a graduation ceremony for their participation in the NOVA program. This 12 week course taught by Officer McCoy from the Mapleton police department, focused on seeking positive opportunities, instilling values, and excepting accountability for choices. We appreciate officer McCoy and a lifelong lessons that he taught. We were even privileged to hear from chief Jackson, and see a demonstration of a police canine from Officer Sherwood.
Students in the sixth grade have recently been learning about Ancient Greece. They were also assigned a myth from that time period to research as a group. Each group designed a poster related to that myth and displayed them for SEP Conferences.
At the end of term two, SEP Conferences were held at Maple Ridge. Many teachers took the opportunity to have the students show what they have been learning about in school. In sixth grade, students were able to do Walking Report Cards, where they showed their parents what they have learned in the various subject areas.
