Ririe Woodbury Dance
On Monday, April 25th, members of the Ririe Woodbury company came to Maple Ridge to teach students some of the elements of contemporary dance. Some of these elements included space, shape and time. Throughout the assembly, several students had the opportunity to demonstrate dance movements.
Wendy Simmons Awarded Employee of the Year
Wendy Simmons, our amazing secretary, was awarded the Classified Employee of the Year here at Maple Ridge. You can't help but smile when you are around Wendy. She is constantly happy, and will help anyone in any way she can. Mrs. Simmons has had the difficult challenge of opening a new elementary school this year, but she has done it while making everyone's lives easier. Kaylie Sanders, a student in the sixth grade, says, "Mrs. Simmons is just so kind and loving and is always there for others."
Kindi 500 Comes to Maple Ridge
Kindergarten students donned their race cars for the Kindi 500. The students learned about different places around the country while having fun at the same time. Many were impressed with how elaborate the costumes were.
Talent Show
Mrs. Steen, the music teacher at Maple Ridge, recently gave students the opportunity to share their talents during music specialty.
NetsSmartz Assembly
Recently, students at Maple Ridge were instructed on the importance of internet safety during a NetSmartz assembly. A representative with NetSmartz shared some fun videos, and talked to the students about how to remain safe while using the internet, while having fun at the same time.
Crystal Apple Award
Recently, DeAnn Sanders was award the Crystal Apple Award at Maple Ridge. Craig Harvey from the Horace Mann Agency awarded DeAnn Sanders the Crystal Apple Award. The Crystal Apple Award recognizes excellence in education by honoring those making a significant impact in the lives of children. DeAnn teaches fourth grade, and is known for her fun and innovative approach to teaching.
