February was Kindness Month at Maple Ridge. Throughout the month our student council gave us challenges to work on and planned activities for Maple Ridge students to participate in. They challenged us all to SMILE, COMPLIMENT, and INVITE each week during the month. Our student council decorated the halls with kindness quotes to remind us all of the importance of being kind. Students wrote kind things they had done or someone had done for them and hung them on a sign that was displayed at the front of the school. They also wrote thank you notes to people they appreciate during lunch. In addition, a kindness cart was taken around to teachers to be able to choose a treat to let them know how much they are appreciated. Each Friday in February, our student council lead "Honk for Kindness" day and went outside to greet students in the drop off lanes and welcome them to school. It was a great month! A big thank you all our fifth grade students, our student council, parents who volunteered, and an especially big thank you to Mrs. Paynter and Mrs. Brindley for all their hard work in helping our student council make this month so awesome!
