Recently, the PTA recognized Melanie Adamson as Outstanding Educator for Maple Ridge Elementary. Mrs. Adamson works with the UEI students in the school. She does a great job with her group of students, and makes sure to give students throughout the school, the opportunity to come into her classroom, and help these students in whatever way they can. Melanie has been credited with working behind the scenes to ensure the progress and development of her students. Melanie is a pleasure to work with, and we feel fortunate to have her here at Maple Ridge! Mrs.
Recently, Becky Manning, a third grade teacher at Maple Ridge Elementary, was chosen as the Outstanding Educator by the Springville/Mapleton PTA council. According to many of Mrs. Manning's colleagues, she is an amazing teacher for many reasons. Not only does she know her students well, but she does all she can to meet the needs of every individual student in her class. Not only does she have a great rapport with parents and students, but she does with her coworkers as well.
On Wednesday, December 20th, the school choir performed for the PTA during their meeting. The choir is under the direction of DeAnn Sanders and Kristine Kirk with Denette Steen accompanying the choir.
On Thursday, October 27th, Dads were invited to come and eat donuts with their children at the school. This activity coincides with the book fair that has been going on throughout the week and will end on Friday.
The annual Maple Ridge Carnival, to raise funds for the PTA, took place on Thursday, September 29th. Students and their families were able to enjoy a variety of food and games, and had the opportunity to bid on movie baskets to help raise money. These baskets were all comprised of donations from families centered around a movie theme. Parents, teachers, and volunteers generously gave of their time to help.
Throughout the week of May 9-13, teachers at Maple Ridge were given the movie star treatment for appreciation week. Every teacher had their own star in front of the office walkway, and the school was decked out in red carpets. Throughout the week there were several activities to celebrate teachers. One day, students wore their teacher's favorite color. Another day, students had the opportunity to dress up like their teacher's favorite book/movie character.
