Flag Football Fun
Taking advantage of the warmer weather, Ms. Anderson's fifth grade class played flag football during recess. Principal Sara Matis joined in on the fun, looking fashionable in her high heels.

During the week before St. Patrick's Day, students had the opportunity to purchase Good Luck Grams for their friends at the school. Student council members sold the Good Luck Grams before school for 25 cents each.
Kindergarten registration for Maple Ridge Elementary will be held on Thursday, March 17th from 8:00am-4:00pm. Registration will be held at the school in Room 159.
Please bring the following to register your Kindergarten student: *Birth Certificate, *Immunizations, *3 Proofs of residency - (i.e; Mortgage statement, rental agreement, city bill, power bill, cell phone bill, etc.) If you don't have all of these items, please still attend but be sure we have them in the main office as soon as possible.

Recently, sixth grade students who will be attending Mapleton Junior High next year, visited the school for a tour. Not only did students tour the school, but were able to see several programs in action such as the orchestra, band, and choir.
On Wednesday, March 8th, fifth grade students participated in the Wax Museum. They researched and studied a famous and/or influential person from US history and dressed up as that person. Classes from around the school visited the museum throughout the morning as did parents.

Recently, Becky Manning, a third grade teacher at Maple Ridge Elementary, was chosen as the Outstanding Educator by the Springville/Mapleton PTA council. According to many of Mrs. Manning's colleagues, she is an amazing teacher for many reasons. Not only does she know her students well, but she does all she can to meet the needs of every individual student in her class. Not only does she have a great rapport with parents and students, but she does with her coworkers as well.
On Monday, February 27th, sixth grade students had the opportunity to test some band and orchestral instruments. The program is sponsored by Summerhays Music who donated the use of the instruments.
Sixth grade students who will be attending Diamond Fork Junior High School next year, had the opportunity to visit the school recently for an orientation. Not only were students instructed on what courses they would need to take, they were also given a tour of the school.
Bethany Silver, author of Unicorns of Udithia, visited with sixth grade students recently. She told the students about the storyline of her book, and the main character Aquarion. She also shared her story of how she wrote the book, and where she came up with the idea. Her sister, Elizabeth, also an illustrator, talked about her artwork on the cover of the book. Both Bethany and Elizabeth are from Mapleton.
