Red Ribbon Week Assembly

Submitted by becky.manning on Thu, 11/10/2022 - 21:34

Students enjoyed a police dog assembly by the Spanish Fork Police Department during our Red Ribbon Week. The officers introduced us to one of their police dogs, Maverick. They told us how they got Maverick and how they use him and showed us some of his skills. It was fun to learn about such a smart animal and to be reminded the importance of making good choices and staying drug free. A big thank you to our PTA for the fun Red Ribbon Week activities and for arranging this assembly for us.

For our Maple Ridge STRONG assembly this month, Mrs. Brindley arranged to have Ryan Stream come and talk to us from Stand4Kind. He talked about the importance of helping others and being a good friend. We had fun but learned a lot too. Thank you Mrs. Brindley and Mr. Stream for reminding us of these important things!

Discovery Gateway Visits 4th Grade

Submitted by becky.manning on Wed, 11/02/2022 - 22:32

Recently our fourth graders enjoyed a visit from Discovery Gateway. They talked about amphibians and reptiles and about structures and the functions that help tiger salamanders and king snakes survive in their environments. We learned that king snakes mimic eastern coral snakes and that tiger salamanders breathe through their skin and go through metamorphosis. A big thank you to Discovery Gateway for such an interesting presentation!
