On Wednesday, August 17th, teachers returned to school.  As part of the welcome back, Principal Sara Matis donned her patriotic attire to inspire teachers to be persistent, and passionate about teaching.  Several Olympic games were available for teachers to play during the lunch hour.

Yearly registration will be held for all students and their families on August 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  This activity is critical in that it allows schools to get an accurate student enrollment.  If you are unable to attend, please email wendy.simmons [at] nebo.edu or call 801-489-1800 and let us know of your plans for the upcoming school year.  Thank you for taking the time to attend!  Registration requires signatures and must be completed by the parent(s) or guardians of each student.

Governor Herbert Visits Maple Ridge

On Friday, May 20th, Governor Gary Herbert along with Dave Elkington, CEO and founder of Inside Sales and representatives from Domo and Qualtric, visited Maple Ridge Elementary.  Inside Sales, in partnership with Governor Herbert, has advocated for more computer science education in the classroom.  Throughout this school year, representatives from Inside Sales have come every Friday to teach students about coding.  Students have learned basic principles of coding and how to create their own algorithms.  

Mathletes Compete in Olympiad

On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, students from five different elementary schools competed in the first ever Nebo District Mathlete Olympiad.  The event was held at Maple Ridge Elementary with students from Sierra Bonita, Barnett, Westside, and Sage Creek competing.  Top performing math students from these schools were given 10 complex math problems to solve in a 30 minute time frame.  Students were judged on accuracy (number correct) and time (how quickly they solved the problems).  All students who competed were given a certificate and Mathlete T-shirt.  It was a fun even

Teacher Appreciation

Throughout the week of May 9-13, teachers at Maple Ridge were given the movie star treatment for appreciation week.  Every teacher had their own star in front of the office walkway, and the school was decked out in red carpets.  Throughout the week there were several activities to celebrate teachers.  One day, students wore their teacher's favorite color.  Another day, students had the opportunity to dress up like their teacher's favorite book/movie character.
