Congratulations to our Sixth Grade "The Gift" essay winners! Each student had to write a creative/informational essay. This gift was each individual student's idea and could be anything that would make our world a better place to live. The winners received a super size Milky Way candy bar, because they are out of this world!
On Wednesday, September 7th, students at Maple Ridge Elementary were privileged to see two Harlem Globetrotters in action. Hollywood and PeeWee not only demonstrated their amazing abilities on the basketball floor, but took the time to talk about responsibility. Many students were brought up from the audience to learn a few skills. Teacher DeAnn Sanders was also recognized as the Teacher of the Year, and given a miniature Statue of Responsibility in her honor.

Students at Maple Ridge enjoyed a fun assembly on the first day of school provided by IHC and the Just Jumping Company. After being entertained by amazing tricks and routines, a few students and teachers were able to practice their jumping skills. Mrs. Matis even got in on the fun by double dutching in her high heels. Last week, as teachers prepared for the coming school year, volunteers from Maple Mountain Pharmacy offered their services in laminating, cutting and organizing various supplies. Many teachers were appreciative of their willingness to help with the preparation.
On Wednesday, August 17th, teachers returned to school. As part of the welcome back, Principal Sara Matis donned her patriotic attire to inspire teachers to be persistent, and passionate about teaching. Several Olympic games were available for teachers to play during the lunch hour.
