Orchestra and Band Visit Maple Ridge

Representatives from Mapleton Junior High school band and orchestra recently visited with sixth grade students to get them motivated to participate in the music programs there next year.  Students were even able to try out some of the instruments.  

Penny Wars March 1st-March 4th

To raise money for the student council, students at Maple Ridge will be able to participate in the Penny Wars.  Each grade level will have a jar in front of the offices before school from 8:35-8:55.  Students can put in pennies to count as points for their grade level, but students from OTHER grades can counteract those points with silver change and/or dollar bills.  The winning grade level will get a game/rootbeer float party.

Science Fair

On Thursday, February 18th, several students in fifth and sixth grade chose to participate in the science fair.  This year, the science fair was optional to students in the upper grades.  A few of the projects were chosen to represent Maple Ridge in the district fair which will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd.

This week, members of the student council are selling and delivering Val-O-Grams to the students at Maple Ridge.   Students, parents and teachers are able to purchase Val-O-Grams for others before school for 25 cents each, or five for $1.00.  This will last through Friday, February 12th.

Coding Fun!

Representatives from Inside Sales have been volunteering in the upper grade classrooms to teach the basics about coding.  Lessons have included paper airplanes and "Algorithmic Cooking with Brad." 

SEP Conference and Walking Report Cards

On Wednesday, January 13th, Maple Ridge held parent conferences.  Students, parents and teachers met to discuss student progress.  Several teachers opted to have Walking Report Cards where students demonstrate what they have learned throughout the year.  

Care-A-Palooza Kickoff

On Monday, January 11th, students at Maple Ridge were entertained by a magician to kick off the Care-A-Palooza event.  Students and families have been encouraged to donate fleece to go toward blankets which will be donated to Primary Children's Hospital.  Michael Workman, working on his Eagle Project, organized the event.
