Last week, as teachers prepared for the coming school year, volunteers from Maple Mountain Pharmacy offered their services in laminating, cutting and organizing various supplies. Many teachers were appreciative of their willingness to help with the preparation.
On Wednesday, August 17th, teachers returned to school. As part of the welcome back, Principal Sara Matis donned her patriotic attire to inspire teachers to be persistent, and passionate about teaching. Several Olympic games were available for teachers to play during the lunch hour.
Yearly registration will be held for all students and their families on August 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This activity is critical in that it allows schools to get an accurate student enrollment. If you are unable to attend, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 801-489-1800 and let us know of your plans for the upcoming school year. Thank you for taking the time to attend! Registration requires signatures and must be completed by the parent(s) or guardians of each student. We look forward to seeing you soon!
On Friday, May 20th, Governor Gary Herbert along with Dave Elkington, CEO and founder of Inside Sales and representatives from Domo and Qualtric, visited Maple Ridge Elementary. Inside Sales, in partnership with Governor Herbert, has advocated for more computer science education in the classroom. Throughout this school year, representatives from Inside Sales have come every Friday to teach students about coding. Students have learned basic principles of coding and how to create their own algorithms.
Governor Herbert took the opportunity to visit some of the fifth grade classrooms during a coding lesson to see what students have been able to accomplish throughout the year.
The faculty and staff are grateful for the hundreds of service hours that have been provided to our school to help students learn about coding.

Throughout the week of May 9-13, teachers at Maple Ridge were given the movie star treatment for appreciation week. Every teacher had their own star in front of the office walkway, and the school was decked out in red carpets. Throughout the week there were several activities to celebrate teachers. One day, students wore their teacher's favorite color. Another day, students had the opportunity to dress up like their teacher's favorite book/movie character. On Wednesday members of the PTA had volunteers come into the classrooms so that the teachers could enjoy a delicious lunch, and have a little more time to enjoy it.
