Second Grade Science

Submitted by becky.manning on

Students in Mrs. Southam's class did a science inquiry lesson on habitats. They looked for patterns of living things and wrote down their observations. Each group found out that the animals were separated into categories based on their habitats. They found similarities between the animals that told students more about the environments that the animals lived in.

Mrs. Gatley, one of our wonderful front office secretaries, was recently recognized by Craig Harvey of Horace Mann as our Maple Ridge Classified Employee of the year. Mrs. Gatley is one of a kind! She works with parents, students, and teachers and staff every day. You can often find her fixing up skinned knees, tying shoes, answering phones, laminating, copying, providing a listening ear, tutoring students, problem solving, even hairstyling! Mrs. Gatley does it all and Maple Ridge would not be what it is without her! She takes such good care of all of us! Congratulations Mrs. Gatley!

5th Grade Wax Museum

Submitted by becky.manning on

Maple Ridge 5th graders recently participated in a wax museum. Students researched and learned about a famous person and wrote a speech about them. They then came dressed as their person and presented their speeches to students and parents. It was very apparent that a lot of work and effort went into this day and we are proud of all our fifth graders and their teachers!

A Birthday Party for Mercy Watson!

Submitted by becky.manning on

Mrs. Williams' first graders have spent the last few months reading their way through the book series Mercy Watson. Mercy is a “Porcine Wonder” who is adored by almost the entire neighborhood. She loves a good adventure and she especially loves hot, buttered toast. To celebrate finishing the series, their class had a Mercy Watson birthday party complete with none other than…buttered toast.
