Mapleton Police Officers Visit Maple Ridge
On December 22nd, several Mapleton City police officers stopped by Maple Ridge to wish the students a Merry Christmas, and even brought the students a treat.

On Thursday, December 23rd, students at Maple Ridge sang Ghristmas songs around the tree.
On Wednesday, December 20th, the school choir performed for the PTA during their meeting. The choir is under the direction of DeAnn Sanders and Kristine Kirk with Denette Steen accompanying the choir.
Not only are the students excited for Christmas this year, but the faculty are as well. Throughout the week of December 19-22, faculty members are celebrating by dressing up in their Christmas bling, or wearing their ugly Christmas sweaters. Treats and lunches are also being provided to the faculty by the administration and several of the teachers.
On Monday, December 19th, a combined sixth grade orchestra from Sierra Bonita and Maple Ridge Elementaries performed at Sierra Bonita Elementary.
Fifth grade students reenacted the Boston Tea Party on Friday, December 16th. In place of tea, however, the fifth grade opted for hot chocolate. Fifth grade students have been learning about United States history throughout the school year.
On Friday, December 16th, students in grades 3-5 were able to attend a Native American presentation. During this presentation, students learned about Native American traditions and customs, and were able to see traditional Native American regalia.
On Wednesday, December 14th, Teresa Jordan, our facilitator at Maple Ridge, was awarded the PEAK Award. Nebo School District wants to showcase our Positive Energy and Kind employees. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.
Teresa was nominated by Principal Sara Matis who said:
“Teresa is always willing to help in any situation. From assisting a struggling reader or taking a student aside for a pick-me-up, she always goes the extra mile. The events Teresa runs are always well-planned, cute, and enjoyable. She gives her all to support her intern teachers as well as all staff and students. She is amazing! Even when handling difficult situations, Teresa is always positive about students. She also tells the BEST stories and is an endless source of entertainment and engagement.”
All those who work with Teresa will testify that she is ALWAYS on the move and doing things to help others succeed. She takes the time to make each person feel that they are important and will listen when you need a friend. We love Teresa Jordan!
Students who participate in the Mathlete program at Maple Ridge competed in a Math Olympiad on Thursday, 15th. The Olympiad consists of several math problems that challenge students on a variety of levels.
On Wednesday, December 14th, the Maple Ridge Choir performed a variety of Christmas songs for their peers and parents. The choir is under the direction of DeAnn Sanders and Kristine Kirk who teach at the school Denette Steen, the music teacher at the school, accompanied most of the songs. There was a special beat-boxing performance as well from some of the sixth grade boys.
